Graderingssystem
The Oslo Capoeira Klubb is affiliated to the Brazilian Confederation of Capoeira, with its headquarters in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We follow the grading system of the Confederation, which runs as follows:

                               

OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM OF THE BRAZILIAN CAPOEIRA FEDERATION

Iniciante:

1st year: Green belt
2nd year: Yellow belt
3rd year: Blue belt

Aspirante:

4th year: green and yellow belt
5th year: green and blue belt
6th year: yellow and blue belt

Aluno Formado:
                                                                                                                           
7th year: green, yellow and blue belt
The student is now qualified to teach Capoeira if they so desire.

Monitor:

8th year: white and green belt
The student may now take on more responsibility and act independently, running a school with the permission of their own Mestre.

Professor:

9th or 10th year: white and yellow belt
The Capoeirista is now fully qualified to teach and they may remain a Professor for some years, continuing teaching and also learning until level 10, which is:

Contra Mestre:

10th - 15th year: White and blue belt
Again, the capoeirista will stay at this level for an indeffinate period of time, until their Mestre feels the time has come to make them a Mestre. This process can take anything from fifteen to twenty years and is predicated on a continuing integrity, responsibilty and practice of Capoeira.

Mestre:

15th - 20th year: White belt
There is a final level, the 12th level: Mestrissimo (Grand master), which has posthumously been awarded to Mestre Bimba.

The Brazilian Capoeira Confederation is currently researching with the aim of awarding an honourary title to Mestre Pastinha, who is now deceased.
